For disabled people, using LETIsmart means regaining possession of spaces of their city and living a more independent and happy life.
The associations of visual and motor disabilities have a fundamental role in signaling to authorities the best systems to help their members to have a rich and independent life, like that of all citizens. This right is guaranteed by law and international conventions. Associations of the blind and visually impaired people and those of motor disabilities can contact LETIsmart for more information about the system and how to start the process of making their city inclusive.
For local administrations and urban transport companies, using LETIsmart means adapting simply and efficiently to the regulations on disability and inclusion, as well as demonstrating attention to their citizens who need greater protection.
The rules and conventions that oblige public administrations to treat all people as first-class citizens are a sign of civilization and progress. But addressing this cultural change is often difficult and complex to implement. Therefore LETIsmart is a system that has taken into consideration the needs of the most fragile, but also of those who are called to adapt the services of their city to a modern and ambitious standard. For this reason, LETIsmart has developed a specific experience in accompanying all interested ones on the path that aims at a modern and friendly smart-city with all its members.
For individuals, especially shopping centers and large-scale retailers, using LETIsmart means realizing social responsibility towards the community they operate in.
All individuals must feel responsible for the well-being of the community. Major operators are increasingly emphasizing this aspect by intervening responsibly in the life of the communities that host them and make them thrive. In this perspective, inclusion plays a central role. Making your services accessible is a matter of social responsibility rather than a regulatory obligation.
The LETIsmart System
In order to let the project work it is necessary manage all the actors involved. For this reason, LETIsmart has defined a consultation process to ensure that everyone can make their contribution. In the research and development, financing, making and implementation of the system.
- Sharing of interest from an association of end users.Disabled people’s associations contact LETIsmart to share interest in using the system in their city.
- Panel discussions with associations of the disabled, departmens of locat authorities and transport companies. In order to let the project work it is necessary to manage operations of all actors involved.
- Technical, regulatory and economic checks and exploration of financing opportunities.Public administration and LETIsmart start technical checks on both feasibility and cost coverage, exploring the availability of ad hoc financing.
- Infrastructure installationLETIsmart installs the tags managing the activities with public administration and transport companies.
- Creating a user base.LETIsmart meets the user base and trains them on the use of the system, in order to fully exploit the potential of the signaling network.
- Your city becomes SmartWith the network installed and a user base, the city becomes truly accessible and offers the same opportunities to all its citizens.
- The community IS GETTING LARGEROnce the first signaling network has been installed, it will be easy for any public or private entiry, company or commercial establishment to add its own signaling tag, to contribute to the well-being of the whole community.

LETIsmart in ITALY
Trieste: a study case
Trieste is the first city which experimented with LETIsmart system on all public transport, sound traffic lights, points of interest, and urban and commercial information. Subsequently, other cities equally attentive to the autonomy of people with disabilities and accessible tourism have adopted this system.
Trieste is a real example of a truly inclusive city that adopted the LETIsmart system, restoring full citizenship to the visually impaired people.
